A week in LA with T3 +REDKEN

Silvia ReisComment

When the world of social media and my passion for hair collide.

I knew form a very young age that I wanted to do hair. As soon as I could I started working towards being a hairdresser, I did.

When I started doing social media, tutorials on YouTube I always thought this was a small hobby where I got to do more “hair things”

Now over five years later I spend equal time on YouTube as I do in the salon and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Social media is still new to me and aim still learning everyday and look forward to sharing with you in a future post my troubles and advantages with it. For now I will share with you a week of celebrating these two things with my two favorite hair brands, T3 and Redken!

The Last week of October I flew down to LA first for a T3 retreat in Malibu!

We were a group of about fifteen girls staying at the Surfrider hotel. I had a hammock on balcony and a view of the ocean.  We had a group brunch to get to know everyone and a styling station set up daily to do our hair before dinner. To make sure we were photo ready with gorgeous hair! I dare you to find a group of girls with prettier hair!

We also had a photo shoot on the beach and ended the trip with an amazing sunset dinner at Nobu in Malibu! One of my favorite restaurants in California! Who doesn’t love sushi while listening the the waves crashing right beside you.

Then I was off to West Hollywood to stay at the Andaz to celebrate with Redken, three decades of shades eq! The toners that every colorist loves!!

Redken will always have a special place in my heart as my color training was in a Redken affiliated academy. It was incredibly special to me to celebrate a product which is so imperative to my career as a hairdresser and blonde specialist, the  fabulous shades eq gloss toners.

Redken rented out a beautiful mansion in West Hollywood for the festivities. There were about 200 hairdressers there to celebrate  it was a true honor to be amongst so much talent and everyone has a blast!

It was an incredible trip with lots of memories made!

Here is a recap of the trip!

SPLIT ENDS - Treatment and Prevention

Silvia Reis3 Comments

What are split ends and where do they actually affect your hair?

People often think all split ends are at the "end" meaning at the bottom of their hair.  However damage and split ends can run all the way up the hair shaft.  This is where I recommend a dusting (a technique  where bending the hair in a way to expose the split ends and cutting only a few millimeters to remove the damaged area)  You can add a dusting either in addition to a cut or  in place of one if you don't want to change your length but want to keep your split ends at bay.  This is a great service to tackle this issue.

Texture is IN!

Say goodbye to perfectly polished blowouts and sleek ponytails. Because texture is in! As a hairdresser I love that finally natural texture, waves and curls are in. I have been advising my clients who were blessed with gorgeous wavy hair to take advantage of this time to wear their hair a little more natural.

Salon Etiquette & Tipping

Silvia Reis4 Comments

There is so much information online on DIYs and everything you need to know about your hair but when it comes to salon etiquette and tipping there seems to be a lack of information.  So to eliminate a possible uncomfortable convo with your hairdresser in the future here are a few guidelines on how to proceed at your next appointment.

Current hair trends I'm loving

Silvia Reis2 Comments

Hair trends are constantly changing and with so many options sometimes it can be overwhelming when it coming to knowing what you want to do with your hair at your next hair appointment. I personally believe in following your own personal style before following any trend. That way you look up to date yet Still feel like you.
